NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A source tells 1010 WINS that suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann is expected to plead guilty on April 8 in a grisly case that has been hanging over Long Island for over a decade.
The 62-year-old Massapequa architect is charged with killing seven women.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office has repeatedly said there was no plea deal on the table. They did not comment on the possible plea that will happen next month.
Heuermann's attorney Michael Brown also did not comment, but has said that they would be ready for trial, which is set for September.
Even if there is no deal on the table, Heuermann can still decide to plead guilty to all the charges against him.
He has been in custody since his arrest in July 2023 and had previously told the court he wasn't guilty.
Prosecutors have said DNA evidence, cellphone data and evidence found in a search of home connect him to the victims, who were all young women involved in sex work.
Remains of several victims were found on an isolated stretch of Ocean Parkway, though some remains were scattered in other remote areas.
The victims include Melissa Barthelemy, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Amber Lynn Costello, Sandra Costilla, Valerie Mack, Jessica Taylor and Megan Waterman.
The investigation of a potential Long Island serial killer spilled into public view in 2010, when police searching for a missing woman discovered numerous sets of human remains in the scrub along Ocean Parkway, not far from Gilgo Beach.
