NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- There have been many presidents over the 254 year history of Rutgers University, but never an African American until now.
Last July, Dr. Jonathan Holloway became the 21st president of an institution that used slaves to build its campuses, feed its students and faculty and sold slaves to fund its very existence.
1010 WINS anchor Larry Mullins sat down with this trailblazing educator and historian to discuss his vision for the university and how he secured a Mellon Foundation grant during his first month as president.
This grant will bring 15 million dollars over five years to create an institute for the study of "Global Racial Justice."
