NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880 NEWS) – Former New York Congressman George Santos' car was broken into overnight on Tuesday in Queens, according to reports.
He is now pointing fingers at Adams for what he believes is a smash-and-grab incident.
Santos was expelled from Congress earlier this month due to multiple charges including campaign finance violations and fraud.
"This is all on him," Santos told the Daily News. "You want to be a chief executive of a city? Then every failure in that city falls on you. He needs to take responsibility and he should resign in disgrace... The city is burning to the ground."
Santos posted a video of the incident on X on Wednesday. In the video, he shows what appeared to be a smashed rear seat window of his SUV and goes on to talk about how Adams was to blame.
The alleged break-in occurred in Flushing, and he noticed it around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He mentioned that the stolen items included a "basket of chocolates" and a book bag containing contact lenses and personal belongings, according to the Daily News.
The thief didn't take any loose change from his car.
Santos reported the incident to 911, and NYPD officers arrived to document the incident.
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed with the Daily News that officers responded and took a report regarding the alleged burglary near Colden Street and Juniper Avenue.
Responding to Santos' video, Fabien Levy, Adams' deputy mayor for communications, made a comment on X, saying, "99% sure you broke into the car yourself."
