NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An iconic Central Park restaurant and cafe offering prime lakeside views is set to reopen to the public this summer, the city announced Thursday.

The city's Parks Department is hoping to provide a 10-year lease to Legends Hospitality to reopen the Loeb Boathouse, which first opened in 1872 and was closed last October.

The group already runs concessions at Yankee Stadium and the One World Observatory.

The plans, according to Richard Porteus, vice president of Legends Hospitality, include restoring the site to its historic glory, revamping the outdoor areas and the rowboat rentals.

"We are planning advance ticket sales on boats, the ability to use debit or credit cards as well," he said.

Porteus said that it will eliminate the long lines for rentals and make for an easier process.

Mayor Eric Adams reminisced while making the announcement on Thursday.

"My rookie years, I didn't have a lot of money, and nothing was more romantic than being able to rent a boat," the mayor said.
