
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A school crossing guard was struck and killed by a dump truck driver in Queens on Friday, police said.
The crossing guard, a 63-year-old woman, was hit just before 9 a.m. at the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue in Ozone Park.
The 39-year-old truck driver was making a right turn onto Atlantic Avenue when he struck her, according to police.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the FDNY said. She hasn't yet been identified.
The truck driver stayed at the scene, police said, and no charges have been filed in the case.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Rain and clouds were creating poor visibility across the city on Friday.
