NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman riding a scooter in Brooklyn died days after she collided with a truck attempting to make a turn at a Brooklyn intersection earlier this month, officials said.
Police responded to a 911 call at 11:18 a.m. last Tuesday of a motor vehicle collision involving a scooter at the intersection of Meeker Avenue and Skillman Avenue in Williamsburg.
Responding officers arrived to EMS providing emergency care to 24-year-old Molly Pearson with severe trauma to her lower extremities.
EMS then transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on Saturday, November 6.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old man was driving a white box truck and Pearson was operating a scooter were both traveling eastbound on Meeker Avenue when the box truck made a right onto Skillman Avenue and collided with the scooter.
The collision caused the Pearson to be ejected from the scooter and fall onto the roadway where the box truck ran over her body.
The operator of the truck remained at the scene and there have been no arrests made.
The investigation is ongoing by the New York City Police Department's Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad.
