NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- NYC sheriffs raided two large illegal gatherings with hundreds of partygoers in violation of COVID-19 regulations — including one where infants were present, officials said Sunday.
According to the New York City Sheriff’s Office, at around 11 p.m. Saturday, approximately 70 people were spotted entering a building at 2368 Westchester Ave. in the Bronx.
Deputies entered the location about 30 minutes later and discovered about 400 patrons inside “consuming alcohol, not wearing masks, and unable to social distance,” an e-mail from Sheriff John Fucito’s office said.
“Deputies also observed some adults with young children and infants inside the location,” the e-mail adds.
According to the e-mail, the location didn’t have a required New York State Liquor License.
The event's host, later identified by officials as Juan Rodriguez-Shinin, was busted for violating state and local measures.
Evas Vimas Wilmer Efrain, identified as the event’s deejay, was issued the same violations, officials said.
At around 11:30 p.m, the department also busted another gathering in violation of emergency orders in Queens on Saturday.
Deputies observed patrons enter a location at 78-14 Roosevelt Avenue from a side entrance on 78th Street.
Officials said deputies entered the establishment about 15 minutes later and saw over 225 revelers "consuming alcohol, smoking Hookah, not wearing masks, or social distancing inside."
The event which also had no liquor license, was warehousing liquor and operating in health code violations.
Three people were charged with multiple offenses, authorities said.
