NEW YORK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 40-year-old driver was killed minutes from his Staten Island home Saturday night after his car slammed into an MTA bus, police said.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 report at around 10:18 p.m. after Mikhail Sukhitskiy drove westbound on Ebbitts Avenue in his Subaru sedan and allegedly collided with an MTA bus headed in the opposite direction.
Upon arrival, officers found Sukhitskiy unconscious and unresponsive and he was transported by EMS to Staten Island University Hospital North, where he was pronounced deceased.
Officers said the bus driver was not injured and remained on scene. No passengers were on board at the time.
The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash, authorities siad.
