NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A ball python named “Sir Hiss” was found inside a store in the Diamond District on Friday afternoon, two days after a 5-foot long boa constrictor appeared on an Upper West Side exterior gate.
Police received a call at about 1:08 p.m. from 77 West 4th St., near Eighth Avenue, reporting a snake inside the building.
The Animal Care Centers of New York City said that the store owners trapped the serpent in a container and called the cops, who removed the snake and gave it to the East Harlem location of the ACC.

The python was about two-feet-long, according to police, but the ACC noted its length as unknown as it has yet to receive a medical exam.
Among other exotic animals, snakes are illegal to own in NYC, so the ACC gave Sir Hiss to a foster group outside of the city. The organization takes animals that are illegal within the city limits.
Katy Hansen of the ACC said that it is now in New Jersey.
While there have been two snakes discovered in two days, the ACC has gotten less than two dozen snakes this year.
