NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Amtrak partially suspended service on its line between New York City and Albany on Monday amid structural concerns at a parking garage in Manhattan.

Empire Service was suspended Sunday afternoon between Penn Station and Croton-Harmon in Westchester as officials look into "structure issues" at a private garage, Amtrak said.

The Empire line runs right under the garage at West 51st Street and 10th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen.

The Department of Buildings database shows a partial vacate order is active for the "entire" garage at the address, which is a residential high-rise.

"FDNY requests a structural stability inspection due to compromised ramps in garage," reads the partial vacate order filed Friday. The complaint notes a "defective concrete thru-out."

The owner contacted an engineer Friday about a hole in the entrance ramp of the garage, WNBC reported, leading to an inspection by the DOB.

"We are working closely with Amtrak and other transit partners to protect public safety and maintain regular communication with riders," Mayor Eric Adams wrote on the social media site X, saying city agencies moved quickly to look into the issue when they became aware of it.

The city stepped up inspections of parking garages after a garage at 57 Ann St. in the Financial District partially collapsed on April 18, killing a worker, injuring five others and crushing dozens of cars.

Amtrak reportedly plans to install "overhead protection" above the tracks in Hell's Kitchen. Amtrak spokesperson Jason Abrams said railroad officials don't know when full service will be restored.

Amtrak urged its customers to take Metro-North between Grand Central Terminal and Croton-Harmon. Tickets continued to be cross-honored Monday.

These are the service changes:

• Trains 233, 234, 235, 237 240, 241 244 and 280 are canceled

• Trains 49 and 69 will originate from Albany (ALB)

• Trains 63, 64, 232, 236, 238, 239 243, 281, 283, 284 and 294 will originate or end in Croton-Harmon (CRT).
