NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A screaming attacker shoved a 74-year-old man onto the tracks at an Upper East Side subway station Tuesday morning in a random assault, police said as the suspect remained at large.

The victim was pushed around 12:15 a.m. as he stood on a downtown platform at the 68th Street–Hunter College 4/6 station.

Police called the attack entirely unprovoked and said the attacker was screaming at himself moments before the shoving.

The victim was not seriously injured, according to police. No train was arriving at the time, and an MTA worker helped him back onto the platform.

EMS transported him to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition with small lacerations.

The suspect fled the scene and was still being sought Tuesday. A description of him hasn't been released by police.
