NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Robbers have been slicing open people's pockets in the city, with a Harlem subway rider among the latest victims, police said Friday as they released images of a suspect.

The victim, a 49-year-old man, was waiting for a southbound 6 train at the 116th Street station on the morning of Aug. 19 when he was targeted by another man around 5:30 a.m.

The thief cut open the victim's pocket, snatched his wallet and fled, police said.

The victim was not injured in the robbery.

In a similar theft last Wednesday, WNBC sports anchor Bruce Beck was reportedly robbed at Rockefeller Plaza by a crook who cut his pocket.

Beck was walking past the "Today" show window on West 49th Street at 10:30 p.m. when the thief grabbed him, sliced open his back pocket and stole his wallet, police sources told the Daily News. The sportscaster wasn't injured.

Another recent wallet robbery in Midtown was much more violent. Police said a 51-year-old man was walking near Bryant Park last Thursday morning when another man walked up, stabbed him in the gut and ran off with his wallet.

The robberies aren't believed to be related.
