NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 51-year-old man was stabbed in the gut and robbed of his wallet near Brant Park in Midtown, police said Thursday as they released images of a suspect.

The victim was walking on West 43rd Street, just west of Fifth Avenue and a block north of the park, around 2:20 a.m. last Thursday when another man wandered up and plunged a sharp object into his abdomen, according to police.

After stabbing the victim, the assailant stole his wallet and fled the area.

EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where his condition was stable.

The wallet contained the victim’s bank cards, Metro-North tickets and $5 cash, police said.

The suspect is believed to be about 25 years old.
