NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A subway rider was slashed across the face at Grand Central during the Thursday morning rush, police said.

The brazen attack happened on a 6-train platform just after 9 a.m., when the station is especially busy.

A 42-year-old man got into a dispute with another man, who pulled out a knife and slashed him, according to police.

The victim was transported in stable condition to NYU Langone Medical Center.

His attacker ran off and was still being sought Thursday. No description of him was immediately released.

It's not yet clear what the two men were arguing about at the time.
