SUBWAY STRIKE KILLS MAN: 22-year-old was lying on track when Q train hit him at 28th St.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 22-year-old man was fatally struck by a subway in NoMad early Sunday morning, the MTA said.

The man was reportedly lying on subway tracks about 1:30 a.m. when a train operator on a Q train approaching the 28th Street station at Broadway pulled the emergency break, but the train was unable to stop.

"Northbound N/Q trains are delayed while we investigate a report of an unauthorized person on the tracks at 28 St," tweeted the MTA at 1:35 a.m.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is unknown.

A few hours later, at 5:03 a.m., the MTA tweeted, "Q trains are running with delays in both directions after emergency teams responded to a person who was struck by a train at 28 St."
