NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A human leg found on subway tracks in the Bronx over the weekend may belong to a man who was fatally struck by a train in Lower Manhattan days earlier, sources told 1010 WINS on Wednesday.

MTA workers discovered the leg Saturday afternoon as they cleared snow from the elevated tracks between the 167th Street station and the 170th Street station in Mount Eden.

According to sources, investigators are looking into the possibility a 4 train dragged the leg some nine miles to the Bronx from the Spring Street station in SoHo.

An unidentified man was struck and killed by a train at that station on Feb. 12 in what may have been a suicide.

Investigators recovered most of his remains but were not able to find his left leg, according to the New York Post.

The medical examiner is said to be examining the leg to see if it belonged to the man.
