NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman was arrested on a hate crime charge about two weeks after she allegedly slapped another woman while making anti-Asian remarks on the Lower East Side, police said Wednesday.
Cheyenne Taylor, 29, was charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime, according to police.
Police allege that Taylor, of Brooklyn, was the person who slapped a 25-year-old Asian woman in the face as she sat talking with a friend in front of 279 Grand St. on the evening of April 7.
Police said Taylor made anti-Asian remarks before slapping the woman—an attack that was captured on surveillance video.
The victim was not seriously injured and refused medical attention at the scene, according to police.
