WATER MILL, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – The man suspected of murdering a New York City woman this week at a luxury resort in the Hamptons was found dead by suicide in Pennsylvania, police said Wednesday.
Thomas Gannon, 56, was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home on Brooke Drive in Honesdale, about 30 miles northeast of Scranton, according to Suffolk County police.
Gannon was the main suspect in the murder of Sabina Rosas, a 33-year-old artist who lived in Brooklyn. Sources previously told ABC News it appears he was her boyfriend.
Rosas was found murdered Monday afternoon at the Shou Sugi Ban House, a "luxury wellness resort and spa" on Montauk Highway in Water Mill, just east of Southampton village, police said.
A staff member found her dead in a guest room around 12:30 p.m. that day, according to police, who said investigators determined she was “a victim of violence.”
According to its website, "Shou Sugi Ban House offers spa, healing arts, nutrition, fitness and complete wellness experiences in a holistic, educational setting." The location offers 13 private guest studios with "their own private entrance and private garden patio," the site says. Former guests include actor Kate Hudson and journalist Katie Couric.
Police haven’t said how Rosas was killed. The Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner is performing an autopsy to determine her cause of death.
In a statement Tuesday to multiple outlets, her family said that she was a “beloved daughter, sister, fiancée and friend.”
"As the eldest of three daughters, Sabina brought excitement, adventure, joy and love to our family," they said. "We are devastated by this senseless loss and ask for privacy as we navigate this incredibly difficult time."
