NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a suspect who started an argument with a 70-year-old man in Brooklyn Tuesday evening, assaulted him and then stole his mobility aid.

The 70-year-old victim was at 2250 West 11th St., a residential building that is part of NYCHA’s Marlboro Houses in Gravesend, at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday when an unknown man approached and began a verbal argument, police said.

The situation escalated to physical violence, an altercation ensued, and the suspect punched the older man in the face. He then stole the 70-year-old’s walking cane before fleeing the scene on foot, authorities said.

EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island in stable condition.

Officials released a photo of the suspect on Saturday in hopes that someone recognizes him. He is described as having a light complexion.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black tank top and gray pants.
