NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A fight between two men at a Manhattan subway station on Saturday led to the aggressor falling onto the tracks. When the victim helped the suspect back up to the platform, the suspect shoved him onto the roadbed before being detained by police, authorities said.
Robenson Bouquet, 34, of Brooklyn, was charged with reckless endangerment and assault, police said Sunday.
At 4:43 p.m. on Saturday, Bouquet bumped into another 34-year-old man on the southbound A platform in the West 4th Street–Washington Square station in the West Village.
The suspect allegedly initiated a verbal dispute with the victim, which escalated into a physical fight. Bouquet fell onto the subway tracks during the altercation, police said.
The victim helped the suspect back onto the platform, and once he was off the tracks, Bouquet allegedly punched the victim with metal knuckles and pushed him down onto the roadbed.
Bystanders helped the victim up from the tracks, police said. He suffered pain to his face, but refused medical attention at the scene.
Cops responded to the scene and maced Bouquet while trying to take him into custody, officials said.
Two officers suffered minor injuries while detaining the suspect and were transported to an area hospital in stable condition for treatment.
Bouquet was removed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for an evaluation before charges were brought against him.
