VIDEO: Suspect sought in anti-Asian hate crime attack in Harlem

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a man in connection to a hate crime assault that occurred in Harlem early Monday where a 27-year--old man was attacked and had anti-Asian insults hurled at him last month, authorities said.

Just after 10 p.m. on February 15, the victim was walking to his vehicle in front of Fred Samuel Park on Lenox Avenue between West 139 and 140 Street when he was pushed by the suspect, according to police.

When the victim asked why he was pushed, the suspect made anti-Asian statements and punched the victim in the face, causing pain and swelling, officials said.

The suspect then fled eastbound on West 139 Street.

Police released surveillance video of the suspect late Sunday.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
