NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A taxi driver was mugged in Brooklyn by a fare-evading passenger over the summer, and police released photos of the suspect on Wednesday night as they continue to investigate.

The suspect was a passenger in the victim’s taxi at about 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, when the car stopped in front of 3910 Clarendon Rd. in East Flatbush.

Police said that the suspect got into a verbal argument with the 29-year-old driver over the fare, which escalated when he punched the victim in the face, pulled out a knife and threatened him.

Before exiting the car the suspect snatched the driver’s cellphone, police said, and fled the scene on foot. He was last seen wearing a camouflage sweater.

The value of the stolen property is approximately $1,000, officials said.

The driver was not injured, cops said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
