NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly destroying 97 windows on dozens of subway trains last month, police said Monday.
The teen, who hasn't been named because of his age, was arrested last Wednesday in Brooklyn, according to police.
The incident happened on Sept. 12, during a roughly 29-hour period, when the teen broke windows on 45 W trains, leading to significant damages.
The affected trains had to be taken out of service which resulted in service disruptions on several subway lines, including the B, D, N, F, and Q lines.
NYC Transit President Richard Davey had described the vandalism as "outrageous."
The MTA estimated the damage cost to be around $500,000.
