NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a teenager accused of assaulting an MTA bus driver after he was told he had to wear a mask in Brooklyn Thursday morning, officials said.
The maskless 18-year-old got on the back of the B46 bus at Flushing Avenue and Broadway in Bedstuy at approximately noon, authorities said.
The driver informed the teen of MTA's policies which require that riders wear masks and board the bus through the front door, causing him to become enraged, an MTA source told the New York Post.
According to officials, the teen then assaulted the driver, reaching around the plastic barrier.
The driver was taken to Woodhull Hospital and treated for injuries to his elbow and shoulder, police said.
Responding officers took the teen into custody, and charges against him were pending, authorities said.
An investigation is ongoing.
