Teen boy robbed at Bronx subway station by man holding beer, claimed he had gun: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is looking to identify a man claiming he had a gun and robbed a teen of his jewelry while holding a beer outside a Bronx subway station last month.

The robbery happened at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, October 4, at the Prospect Avenue station in Mott Haven as a 15-year-old boy exited the 2,5 line train with the suspect exiting along with him, officials said.


According to police, as the teen was walking down the staircase of the station, the suspect approached him from behind and demanded the jewelry he was wearing.

The suspect, who was holding a beer in his hand also stated that he had a gun.

The teen complied and removed a chain and a bracelet that he was wearing and gave them to the robber.

The suspect then told the teen to run home and not to look back and then fled the location.

Officials said a firearm was never displayed by. the suspect and the victim was not injured.

The total value of property stolen was $1,000, authorities said.

Police describe the suspect as a man approximately 5'7" tall, 160 pounds, with a medium complexion, medium build, and facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a purple baseball hat with the word "BOSS" on the front, black sunglasses, a dark blue jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, blue sneakers and holding a beer in his left hand.
