Teen charged in violent Bronx assault, attempted carjacking: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A teen boy was charged on Sunday after beating two men during an attempted carjacking in the Bronx late last month, authorities said.

The 14-year-old boy was taken into custody at about 9:30 a.m. after his dad turned him, the New York Post reported.

The teen, whose name was withheld due to his age, was charged with attempted robbery and assault.

According to officials, just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, two suspects attempted to enter a vehicle belonging to a 46-year-old man parked in front of 111 Southern Blvd. in the Foxhurst section.

The suspects punched the victim about the body and attempted to remove the vehicle, the NYPD said.

They were unsuccessful in taking the vehicle and proceeded to punch another 54-year-old man in the face, before fleeing on foot.

The victims sustained bruising to the face and were treated by EMS at the scene.

An investigation remains ongoing.
