NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Four teens were arrested and charged with murder on Wednesday in connection to the fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old at a Bronx playground the night before, police announced.
Officers responded to Williamsbridge Oval Playground in Norwood at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and discovered 14-year-old Angel Mendoza with multiple stab wounds throughout his body.
EMS transported him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in critical condition, but he could not be saved.
A 17-year-old boy was also found with stab wounds to his abdomen and shoulder, police said. He was transported by private means to Montefiore Medical Center and is in stable condition.
Authorities believe a large brawl spurred the stabbings, and the four detained suspects arrested Wednesday morning were charged with manslaughter, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon in addition to murder.
Two of the suspects are 18-years-old and were identified by police as Andrew Ansah and Jordan Williams. Both teens live within blocks of the playground, according to police.
The other suspects are ages 15 and 16. The NYPD does not identify minors accused of crimes.
