NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A teen boy was reportedly shot and wounded while trying to rob an Upper East Side smoke shop Wednesday evening.
At about 6 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting inside a smoke shop near East 61th Street and Third Avenue.
A 15-year-old boy attempted to rob the shop when the store employee pulled out a gun and shot him, sources told WABC-TV.
He was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center after suffering a bullet graze wound to his leg, officials said.
The store clerk locked up the shop and left, according to the report.
NYPD officers had to break the lock to get inside where a shoe, and a shell casing on the floor where found.
There have been no arrests made and an investigation remains ongoing.
