NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A teenage boy and a man were killed in separate shootings in Brooklyn and the Bronx on Thursday, police said Friday.
The first shooting claimed the life of Devonte Lewis, 17, in Midwood around 2:45 p.m., according to police.
Officers responding to a 911 call on E. 21st Street, near Avenue K, found Lewis with gunshot wounds to his body and hand, police said.
He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Daily News, Lewis was leaving the Urban Dove Charter School when he was shot.
"Urban Dove has never experienced an act of violence such as this. This incident took place in the presence of our school staff and we are grateful no one else was injured," Urban Dove executive director Jai Nanda told the Daily News.

Hours later around 9:20 p.m., officers responding to a 911 call found 32-year-old Ramel Moore shot at Franklin Avenue and E. 168th Street in the Morrisania section of the Bronx.
Moore had been shot multiple times in the body. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital but did not survive.
