NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 17-year-old boy was stabbed and several other people were hit by an SUV in a chaotic scene in front of a Bronx high school on Tuesday, authorities said.
The boy was in the passenger seat of a 2005 BMW SUV parked in front of Harry S. Truman High School in Co-op City around 2:30 p.m. when he and his fellow passengers got into an argument with a group standing in front of the school, the NYPD said.
At some point during the dispute, someone standing on the sidewalk stabbed the boy in the torso, police said.
The boy got out of the BMW and ran into the school, at which point the BMW driver tried to hit the group on the sidewalk with his car, the NYPD said.
As the driver accelerated, he hit several pedestrians, as well as a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser that was traveling south on Baychester Avenue, according to police.
At least seven people at the scene were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries after the incident, the NYPD said.
The 17-year-old boy was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was treated for a cut to his torso, police said. He was in stable condition as of Tuesday evening.
The BMW fled the scene after the incident, cops said.
No one had been arrested in connection with the incident as of Tuesday evening. An investigation is ongoing.
