Fallen trees from overnight storm cause power disruptions across NYC, destroy car

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The overnight storm caused large trees to fall, one even crushing a car and disrupting power along several blocks in Brooklyn.

A large tree fell around 2 a.m. on Wednesday due to heavy rainfall on Snyder Avenue near Rodgers Avenue in Flatbush.

Emergency crews worked to clear up the debris scattered from the fallen tree in the neighborhood.

The tree caused damage to multiple vehicles with smashed windshields and leaving wires on the road. It also completely crushed a parked sedan according to ABC7.

Despite the significant damage, officials reported no power outages in Flatbush.

In a related incident in Middle Village, Queens, the Citizen App reported a fallen tree that caused power outages on Tuesday night between 66th Drive and 66th Road.

Firefighters responded to the scene and worked to address the power outages and ensure the safety of the affected neighborhoods.
