Trio sought in hour-long spree of headphone thefts in Manhattan

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials released images on Thursday of a trio of suspects wanted in a string of headphone thefts that occurred within an hour of each other earlier this month in Manhattan.

The first incident happened on Tuesday, September 12, at approximately 6 p.m. A 28-year-old man was waiting for the bus in front of 500 West 181 St. in Washington Heights when he was approached by the suspects, police said.

They took the victim’s headphones and fled the location on dark-colored mopeds, going westbound on West 181st Street.

About 45 minutes later, a 39-year-old man was riding his bicycle in the vicinity of 2nd Avenue and East 17th Street in Gramercy when he was approached from behind by one of the suspects.

The suspect took the victim’s headphones and fled the location on a dark-colored moped, going southbound on 2nd Avenue.

Just before 7 p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking near the vicinity of East 20th Street and Avenue C in the East Village, when he was approached by the three suspects.

The trio took the victim’s headphones and fled the location on dark-colored mopeds, going southbound on Avenue C.

Each headphone is valued at approximately $600, officials said.

There are no reported injuries as a result of any incident.
