NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was arrested for slashing two people in separate incidents at the Grand Central subway station on Christmas Eve, police said.

The first attack began at around 10:15 p.m. when the suspect got into an argument with a 42-year-old man on the stairs of the southbound entrance to the Midtown station. During the argument, the suspect slashed the man across the left wrist, according to police.

Shortly after, the suspect then targeted a 26-year-old woman, reportedly arguing with her before stabbing her in the neck, police said.

Both victims were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and are listed in stable condition, police confirmed.

The suspect then tried to flee the scene by running up an escalator, but witnesses alerted officers, who quickly arrested him and recovered a knife.

Police confirmed the suspect, who has prior arrests for criminal mischief and assault, is in custody, but charges have not yet been announced.

An investigation is ongoing.
