
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A fire at a seven-story Queens residential building injured two people Sunday afternoon, officials said.
The FDNY responded to a 12:39 p.m. call reporting a fifth-floor fire at 833 Central Avenue, near Virginia Street, in Far Rockaway.

Video footage of the event shows thick gray smoke pouring out of the building, and fire officials utilizing fire truck ladders to gain better access to the building.
Twelve units, composed of 60 fire and EMS personnel, responded to the call and got the fire under control by 1:22 p.m., officials said.
Two people were injured in the blaze, one of which refused medical attention at the scene. The other was transported to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
