NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A "United for Israel" event, being billed by organizers as a "powerful vigil and rally," will take place late Monday afternoon along Cenral Park West to mark 30 days since Hamas' Oct. 7 terror attack in southern Israel, during which 1,400 Israelis were murdered and 240 people of multiple nationalities, including Americans, were kidnapped. Hamas has since released 4 hostages, and the Israeli Defense Forces rescued one.
"On October 7, the worldwide Jewish community changed forever as a result of the terror wrought by Hamas," reads a flyer for the event, being organizzed by the UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Community Relations Council, and co-sponsored by another dozen organizations. "One month later, we come together to mark this moment, united in heartbreak and solidarity as we stand as one for Israel."
Organizers said elected officials and community leaders will attend the event. There will also be performances by Israeli singers Gad Elbaz and Idan Raichel.
"United for Israel" will take place along Central Park Avenue West from 83rd to 85th Streets. Attendees are being asked to enter from Columbus Avenue at 84th Street or 85th Street. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the program begins at 5:30 p.m.
