NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – About a dozen people were arrested Wednesday as local and federal law enforcement raided locations in Upper Manhattan in a major bust targeting a large-scale methamphetamine and gun trafficking ring, sources said.

Authorities launched the raids around 6 a.m. at more than 10 locations, including in Washington Heights and Hamilton Heights. A location in New Jersey was also searched.

U.S. Homeland Security agents and NYPD detectives moved in with heavy tactical gear as they executed search warrants, including at an apartment, as well as at smoke and juice shops near 174th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.

A detective was spotted in the area with an evidence bag holding wads of cash.

The Superman Barbershop at W. 152nd Street and Broadway was also raided, as it’s suspected of housing an illegal gambling den, sources said.

The case is out of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

Those arrested were expected in federal court in Lower Manhattan later Wednesday.

Some of those arrested are believed to have connections to the Trinitarios gang, according to sources.
