NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man walked into a Midtown church on Wednesday and stole a gold-plated rose from a 9/11 memorial, police said Thursday as they released photos of the suspect and stolen rose.

The golden rose was snatched around 2:30 p.m. from the memorial inside Church of St. Francis of Assisi at 135 West 31st St., according to police.

The suspect fled with the large rose and was captured by a nearby surveillance camera, video shows.

The memorial includes the rose, as well as three pieces of steel recovered from the World Trade Center site and commemorates the 2,977 victims killed in the 2001 terror attack.

Among those honored are Father Mychal F. Judge, a Catholic priest at the church and FDNY chaplain who was killed on 9/11. He was the first certified fatality of the attacks.
