NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A frustrated anti-vaccine subway commuter tore down suggestive dating-app advertisements in a viral video.
The woman was filmed ripping OkCupid advertisements from a D train as she ranted against coronavirus vaccines.
“All of this is gross. For kids to be looking at this, is that OK??” she said in the clip posted to Twitter, which has racked up over a million views.
“This is propaganda...this is affecting the next generation,” she says as she gestures to her disinterested fellow train commuters. “I don’t know why no one sees this. This is disgusting.”
The colorful OkCupid campaign features ads targeting various sexual preferences and kinks, like “submissives,” pansexuals and mon-monogamists.
As she moved up and down the train tearing down the ads, the person filming the video cheers her on: “Watch and learn! That’s what bravery looks like!”
Eventually, the woman’s rant moved to vaccine mandates and anti-communist sentiments.
“This is not about equality, guys. This is about communism,” she said in a second clip.
“The government is against us and you don’t see it,” she added. “You guys think that you’re going to take a vaccine and [the coronavirus] is going to go away? It’s never going to go away.”
Eugene Resnick, a spokesman for the MTA, told the New York Post that the agency is limited by the First Amendment in terms of what ads it can accept or reject. He told the paper that the ads went through a review process and were determined to not violate guidelines.
“Customers are free to express their disdain with subway advertisements, but they are not permitted to destroy them. Riders who violate that basic principle are subject to prosecution,” he told the Post in a statement.
A spokesperson for OkCupid told the Post that the response to the ads has been mostly positive.
