NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — City officials, Voices for Seniors, and family members of senior citizens who died in nursing homes due to COVID-19 attended a candlelight vigil on Thursday to honor those who died.
The memorial and vigil to honor the more than 15,000 seniors who died was held in Foley Square on the anniversary of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's March 25, 2020 directive.
Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, State Senator Alessandra Biaggi, Assemblymember Yuh-Line Niou and family members of seniors lost to Covid-19 in nursing homes were in attendance.
Voices for Seniors also called on State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli to refer the nursing home cover-up to the State Attorney General's office.
