NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A rash of violence in New York City the night before Thanksgiving left seven people shot in a 4-hour period, according to the NYPD.
The first shooting took place just after 7:20 p.m, at Fulton and Jay streets in Downtown Brooklyn. A man and woman, both 18, were struck and taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Police said that the shooting stemmed from a verbal argument.
At 9:40 p.m,. gunfire broke out outside a building on Ryer Avenue in the Bronx when two men, ages 22 and 23, were shot.
The victims were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, and investigators were talking to two people thought to be involved in the shooting, authorities said.
Less than two hours after that shooting, just before 11:20 p.m., a 24-year-old man was grazed in the head inside a parking garage on 30th Drive in Astoria.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Queens, and police said the two suspects fled the scene in a Jeep.
At almost the same time on Melrose Avenue in the Bronx, a 22-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder and right bicep, and a 25-year-old woman was struck in the chest. Officials said the victims were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln.
Police released surveillance images of a suspect in this final shooting, and said the suspect was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, black balaclava, black jeans, black sneakers and blue surgical gloves.
All victims are in stable condition, cops said. There have been no arrests and investigations are ongoing.
