NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- With worries of crime at the front of their mind, one major company is asking Manhattan staffers to “dress down” to bring less attention to themselves as they commute to work.

Execs at Bank of America have told employees to be cautious and bring less attention to themselves as they come to work at Bank of America Tower near Bryant Park, according to a New York Post report.
Their suggestions include being careful “dressing up” or wearing things with the BofA logo, which could attract attention.
Another exec at an unnamed large money management firm told the Post that they were even carrying a Taser while on their commute.
The concerns increase with sunset in Manhattan now coming before 5 p.m.
Companies like Citibank have offered private shuttles to some employees to a void public transit altogether, the Post reported.
New York City’s latest crime stats showed a nearly 16% increase in robberies from October 2020 to October 2021, and an over 18% jump in grand larceny. Murders dropped by about 10% while burglaries declined almost 14% over that period.
From September to October of this year, robberies, burglaries and grand larcenies all jumped, according to city data.
The Partnership for New York City’s latest report said only about 28% of Manhattan office workers are back working in-person on an average day. The group expected that number to approach 50% by the end of January.
