NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 15-year-old boy was reportedly arrested, and police are searching for other teen suspects, after video captured a group of bicyclists attacking an SUV stopped at a Manhattan intersection on Tuesday.
The video, first shared on social media, shows the group striking the 2019 BMW, which had stopped at Fifth Avenue and 21st Street to let the group pass around 4 p.m., police said.
In the video, several assailants can be seen pounding on the car with their fists and feet while another smashes a bike on the hood.
Another suspect can be seen jumping on the hood of the BMW and then onto the windshield, causing it to crack and partially cave in.
There were no reported injuries, the NYPD said. The damage to the vehicle was over $250.
Twenty-five bicyclists were involved and six damaged the vehicle, according to the New York Post, which reported a 15-year-old from Queens was arrested Wednesday in connection with the incident.
The teen is being charged as a juvenile and has not been identified, according to the report, which cited law enforcement sources.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
