NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 23-year-old woman was killed after being shot in the eye overnight near a playground and a school in the Bronx, authorities said.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault near P.S. 91 on Aqueduct Avenue in the University Heights section. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered Reyna Caceres suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The sidewalk remained littered with items, including plastic cups and bottles of alcohol, while police surveyed the area. "It's common for sure," one neighbor told 1010 WINS.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear, and authorities have not yet released any information regarding a suspect.
No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
