NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 26-year-old woman died after she fell from a Manhattan fire escape early Friday morning, police said.
Police officers responding to a 911 call just before 1 a.m. on Friday found Tyler Thorpe, of Soundview, unconscious and unresponsive behind a building on East 28th Street, between 2nd and 3rd avenues, in Kips Bay, the NYPD said.
Thorpe, who appeared to have injuries sustained from falling, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Investigators believe Thorpe was climbing up a fire escape to the roof of the building when she lost her footing and fell, the NYPD said.
The city's Medical Examiner will determine how she died. An investigation is ongoing.
