NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police launched an investigation after a 30-year-old woman was found fatally shot on a Brooklyn street corner Tuesday night, authorities said.
At approximately 8:3O p.m. on Oct. 12, officials responded to a 911 call of a woman shot at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Belmont Avenue in the East New York section, the NYPD said.
Upon arrival, officers observed the woman with a gunshot wound to the head.
EMS transported the victim to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Officials said a group of men were standing on the corner when shots were fired and the woman was struck.
It's unclear what led to the shooting and if the victim was the intended target, the NYPD said.
There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
