NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 37-year-old woman was shot in the eye through a peephole of her apartment on the Upper West Side Monday night, officials said.
According to police, the woman heard a knock at the door of her building at NYCHA's Frederick Douglass Houses located on Columbus Avenue after 7:30 p.m.

As she approached the door, she was struck in her left eye through the peephole.
The victim was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in serious but stable condition.
Police believe the victim may not have been the intended target and it is possible that the gunman was going after one of the victim's relatives, law-enforcement sources told the New York Post.
So far, there have been no arrests made.
An investigation into what lead to the shooting remains ongoing.
