Woman, 52, fatally struck by pick-up truck while crossing Brooklyn street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 52-year-old woman was killed when she was hit by a pick-up truck in Dyker Heights on Tuesday, the NYPD said.

Police responded to a 911 call at Bay Ridge and 13th avenues at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday, and discovered the victim unresponsive with trauma to the head and body, officials said.

The pedestrian was identified as Xiaohong Chen of Bensonhurst.

Medical personnel responded and rushed Chen to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition. She was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad found that Chen was crossing Bay Ridge Avenue when she was struck by an eastbound Dodge Ram pick-up truck that had just made a left turn.

The 72-year-old pick-up driver remained at the scene.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
