NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 68-year-old woman was struck and killed by a Jeep in Brooklyn after she tripped and fell in a crosswalk, police said Friday.

The victim, identified as Aurora Soto, of Bushwick, was walking at Broadway and Flushing Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday when she fell into the path of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to police.


A 72-year-old woman driving the Jeep didn't have time to stop and struck Soto, police said.

Soto was found unconscious by responding officers at the intersection. EMS rushed her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene. No criminality is suspected, and no arrests have been made, as the investigation continues, police said.
