NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Bronx woman was beaten to death by her hospital roommate last month, sources said Thursday as police investigate the case and continue to search for the at-large suspect.

According to police, 55-year-old Cynthia Vann was repeatedly punched in the head multiple times at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in Mott Haven on Sept. 10.

The brutal attack left her badly beaten and in critical condition in the ICU. She was pronounced dead a week later on Sept. 27.

The medical examiner found Vann, who had been taken to the hospital for an underlying medical condition, died of blunt force trauma. Her death was deemed a homicide on Monday.

According to sources, investigators believe her roommate, Racquel Haughton, 44, beat her as she slept in her hospital bed.

Haughton has a history of attacking people at the hospital. She was charged with attacking a nurse in July, as well as with assaulting a patient associate on Sept. 11, sources said. She also allegedly attacked an inmate when she was taken to central book for the latter assault, according to sources.

Police continue to search for Haughton as the investigation continues.
