NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 24-year-old Pennsylvania woman was charged after allegedly spitting in the face of an NYPD sergeant during post-election protests in Manhattan on Wednesday night.
Video allegedly shows Devina Singh yelling “F*** you, fascist” at the sergeant before spitting at him. Moments later, the sergeant grabs her.
Singh was charged with disorderly conduct and given a desk appearance ticket, according to police.
The New York Post reported that she was also charged with resisting arrest after a protest in the city in September and with unlawful assembly after a protest in Brooklyn in October.
In an interview with the Post, Singh said the officers “hit us with their bikes repeatedly … and started attacking people.”
In a tweet reacting to video of the incident, the NYPD wrote: “Actions like this will not be tolerated. Agitators who commit these acts will be arrested.”
Singh was among more than 50 people arrested during clashes with officers in the West Village on Wednesday night.
The majority of those in custody were charged with disorderly conduct and received desk appearances, according to police.
Two people were hit with weapons charges; one had a taser and the other had two daggers, police said.
Another person was charged with assaulting a police officer for allegedly punching NYPD Chief Terence Monahan.
